Another great mystery that I couldn't put down. There is a lot of fun stuff going on in this one, a haunted house, that may or may not be haunted, an accident that might be murder, a cold case that needs to be solved. A new relationship is needed for Ellie to get her out of her funk. Zoe always has a great way of helping out wether it's with a pet, a new spooky Halloween game, or finding a bad guy. I can't wait to read more about these great characters, so on to the next book in this series.Product details

Halloween is Zoe's favorite holiday (mine too). Her boyfriend, Zak is going crazy with decorations. They are really busy organizing the town's Halloween festivities. Then Zoe's "Zodar" starts tingling.
Somehow, while keeping on track for Halloween, Zoe and her friends solve another great mystery.
As the story unfolds, I am kept guessing until the very end. Zoe decides to solve a past mystery as we try to figure out if it is tied to a present day murder.
Kathy Daley continues to have Zoe, her family, and friends grow and develop. Even though it is a mystery, there are plenty of things to laugh about.
I enjoy all the animals and love the way Zoe finds perfect homes for them all.
Another great read by Kathy Daley.
I love the Zoe Donovan series, and "Haunted Hamlet", book nine in the series did not disappoint. The characters continue to grow and friendships remain intact. This story weaves a present day accident with a tragedy that happened thirteen years prior. Is the Henderson house really haunted? What really happened to cause the death of three counsellors and disappearance of a fourth? Zoe' s curiosity causes her to seek the answers with Zach' s help. The answers she finds are startling, and she is in danger now for figuring it out. As an aside, we learn the answer to a question asked in an earlier book.
Kathi Daley is one of my favorite authors! Her books feel so much like "home" to me. This book is a great one to read in October, it really helps get us in the seasonal mood. The mystery totally surprised me. I hadn't been guessing that outcome at all! Highly recommend this, and ALL Ms. Daley books!
Kathi Daley writes about life in a rural small town. She has completely captured the people that you would meet at the corner market and at the town meetings. Think Gilmore Girls, but instead of an inn, Zoe runs an animal sanctuary, and instead of searching for what makes her happy, Zoe is searching for murderers.
One thing I like about these books is the bad guy is not evident until close to the end, another is the relationships of the characters. I also like that the books have a theme; Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, so far.
In Haunted Hamlet the real crime takes place 13 years before at the haunted house the town is planning to use for their Halloween fund raiser. That is they planned to use it until Zoe finds a fresh dead body.
I have enjoyed every book in this series and love watching the characters grow and develop different relationships. The animals don't talk or solve the mystery but there are a multitude of critters - Zoe is in charge of an animal shelter. This is the second Hallowe'en mystery set in the gloomy deserted mansion which Zoe and the town plan to turn into a haunted house tour for the holiday. This time, a ghost hunter's body is found at the foot of the stairs and while investigating this, Zoe and crew also end up looking into a long ago episode of camp counselor deaths at the same house. I was surprised by the murderer - I hadn't really considered that person or that reason. All in all, it was very enjoyable and the only drawback for me is that, after so many books, the fact that Zoe has a problem committing is starting to wear a little - her fiancé, Zack, has the patience of a saint!
It is time to close the pool and put the flip flops away. Kathi Daley has made us jump to autumn and wish it was Halloween. Once again she has written another perfect installment to the Zoe Donovan Mystery series. This one is so special because the series started with a Halloween mystery and has the same setting for the murder. I do not like to reveal much about what happens. The characters that I now consider my friends are back. Solving this murder takes Zoe and her helpers back in time to solve an old mystery. Read this book .. Read all of Kathi's books... They keep getting better.. Oh, I read this one in one sitting... The "can't put it down" urge was strong.
This is the 9th installment of the series and I really enjoyed it. This story was well written. And I enjoyed seeing the relationship of Zoe, her family, and her friends develop. It was very nice to see Zoe not obsessing over finding the murderer. She did find who had done the ghastly deed, but it was just done, not continually saying that she had to find them. I love this series and will continue reading about Zoe for as long as the author wants to write them.
